Hi there. I am a registered nurse in Calgary, Alberta. I came here when I was 35 in 2007. Back home I was a teacher in a university but not in medical field. I decided to switch to nursing after looking into the job market. It took me three and half years to complete the degree. I immediately found a full-time job in hospital when I graduate in 2011. Now I make more than 100, 000CAD a year. My suggestion is: if you are in Toronto, check these colleges's requirements for being admitted to nursing. These colleges usually offer English courses for academic purpose (EAP). If you can pass the English course, you meet the requirements for language, then you apply to get into the program using your university or high school transcript from China. I believe that once you get into program, it's easy for you to study these courses because you already have rich experience in Nursing. I should say, now in Canada, nursing is not so easy to find a job as the word had it previously. However, you can start from casual job then you will get a part time or full time job sooner or later.
