3338 portmoody IHIT says a mother of six was killed in a domestic dispute at a Port Moody home Sunday. The woman, who suffered extensive burns, died of her injuries hours after fire broke out in the home. All of the children escaped the fire, and her husband has been taken into custody. The blaze sent two adults and five children to hospital. (CTV) Homicide investigators say one person has died after a suspicious house fire that sent seven people to hospital -- two of them with severe burns. Some 20 firefighters responded to the home in the 3300-block of Dewdney Trunk Road in Port Moody Sunday afternoon. When they arrived, crews saw flames shooting from the front of the building, and a woman with third-degree burns on the front lawn, said Remo Faedo, chief of Port Moody Fire Rescue. No one was inside the building when firefighters arrived, Faedo said. All seven people, including five children, were taken to hospital. One child had severe burns on her feet. Police were called in to help investigate the scene, and fire officials called the blaze suspicious. On Monday morning, B.C.’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said it was taking control of the case, and said one person was arrested. Officials confirmed that one person died as a result of the fire. A police tent has been erected in the driveway of the home and the area has been cordoned off by yellow police tape. The investigation closed Dewdney Trunk Road for several hours. More information is expected to be released later today.
