ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll & Benefits Administrator to support our mining and exploration projects from our corporate office in Vancouver, British Columbia.

As a member of the Accounting team, you'll perform a variety of clerical and accounting tasks, including data entry. You'll also be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and keep all employee information relevant to payroll up-to-date.

This is a dynamic role that will also see you act as Employee Benefits Administrator and provide support to other roles within the department.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Payroll

  • Processing semi-monthly payroll for all salaried, hourly and daily employees
  • Ensuring that all payroll changes are made accurately and in time for effected pay periods
  • Reviewing timesheets and work hours for completeness and accuracy, and entering in JD Edwards
  • Ensuring the accurate processing of sick pay and vacation pay
  • Reviewing and reconciling semi-monthly payroll for accuracy and completeness
  • Processing payroll and special payments, as required, on a timely basis
  • Creating required internal management reports from the payroll system
  • Responding to employee and government agency inquiries in regards to payroll and benefits
  • Compiling payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, benefits and deductions
  • Creating, maintaining and updating employee profiles as information is received
  • Staying current with payroll regulations, standards and work methods
  • Building strong working relationships with Management, Finance, HR and Site Administrators
Benefits & Deductions

  • Verifying and maintaining accurate benefit enrollments and terminations
  • Reconciling all benefits and deductions on a monthly basis
  • Compiling all necessary backup and generate reporting, as required
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding payroll and benefits inquiries
To succeed in this role, you'll ideally have three (3) to five (5) years of payroll administration experience and demonstrated knowledge of payroll and payroll tax laws. A Canadian Payroll Association Certificate is an asset, as is previous JDE payroll system experience.

For this role, we're seeking someone who is sensitive, tactful, diplomatic and professional at all times. You'll be highly organized and will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, especially when the pressure is on. You'll also be a strong communicator and be capable of prioritizing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Most importantly, you'll have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuinely enjoy working in a team environment. The ability to adhere to policies and follow established procedures is required, as is the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Accounts Payable Manager to be based in Vancouver.

In this role, you will be responsible for all activities in the accounts payable function including managing the Accounts Payable team to ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and expense vouchers, maintaining accurate records, and preparing month-end reports. This role will include a high level of involvement in maintaining Accounts Payable system (JD Edwards), processing efficiency and optimization, performance measurement, and SOX control compliance.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Managing and directing the work of the Accounts Payable team
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures, and policies, in the accounts payable function to ensure adherence to company guidelines
  • Reviewing and verifying invoices to ensure compliance, proper authorization, and coding accuracy
  • Monitoring accounts payable aging reports and resolving overdue accounts in accordance with vendor terms and policies
  • Providing analysis to managers and operations staff and responding to financial questions as required
  • Monitoring employee expense reimbursement to adhere to company policies
  • Maintaining a timely and accurate accounts payable sub-ledger
  • Managing monthly closing of accounts payable and posting of month end information
  • Maintaining and updating vendor master file, address book, banking information, etc.
As the successful candidate, you will have a Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience combined with seven (7) or more years of accounts payable experience, and a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory leadership experience.

You will also possess:

  • Large ERP AP system experience, preferably with JD Edwards
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of financial process
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, and the ability to balance and prioritize work
  • Strong computer and business solutions software skills (i.e., word processing/spreadsheet)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work well in a team environment with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
You will also strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all internal personnel, vendors, and senior management. The ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of people will be the key to your success in this role.
