我所喜欢的Podcast

不知道现在还有没有人喜欢在开车之外的时间听广播，但对于我和内子而言，广播是一种有着独特气息的媒体。因为看不见，所以更有留白和想像的空间。而从简陋的收音机里传出来带着电波的沙哑质感的声音，反而会带来一种奇妙的安抚。就像儿时在外婆家午睡时那古旧闹铃传来的单调的滴答声，单调、温暖、宁静。声音和味道，是两扇最能通往回忆的任意门。

听广播的习惯一直延续至今。赴加之前还特地买了一个德生收音机带过来：这有个故事：当年金工实习时组装了一个同品牌的收音机送给了某位喜欢听广播的女生。。。。。。

当然在这个ixxx满街走的时代，听广播有了更多的选择，最方便、选择最广的当然就是podcast。

呵呵，TED talk也是我最爱的podcast之一。既然提到了就聊聊吧。

TED是technology entertainment design的缩写，是一个非营利机构，以其组织的TED大会而著称。正如该机构的口号ideas worth spreading而言，每年各行业内的顶尖人物在TED的号召下齐集一堂，分享他们关于技术、设计、文化、艺术乃至于人生的思索。在演讲人的名单中，你可以看到诸如克林顿、戈尔这样的政界精英，比尔.盖茨和谢尔盖.布林这样的IT巨头以及詹姆斯.喀麦隆和U2的博诺这样的娱乐界大腕。

抛开演讲本身的内容不说，TED Talk也是不可多得的经典语言学习资料。

对于卡尔加里人来说，Eye Opener这个在CBC Radio One 周一至周五 5:57pm 播出的节目绝对不可错过。从西线Ctrain建设到全日制daycare的试点，从各级竞选到政坛丑闻，该节目关注的都是卡城市民身边发生的一切，一点一滴的勾勒出卡尔加里这个城市的形象。

对于卡尔加里人来说，Eye Opener这个在CBC Radio One 周一至周五 5:57pm 播出的节目绝对不可错过。从西线Ctrain建设到全日制daycare的试点，从各级竞选到政坛丑闻，该节目关注的都是卡城市民身边发生的一切，一点一滴的勾勒出卡尔加里这个城市的形象。

真是非常有用地帖子，楼主功课很充分。感谢

接下来要谈关于图书馆的ESL资源。其实对于新移民来说图书馆是一个极其重要且有用的资源，可不是所有人都意识到并充分利用了这一资源。包括我在内，仍然在不断的学习和摸索中。不过有一点可以肯定：你在图书馆花的时间越多，所得必然越丰厚。

以下是一些相关信息：

ESL Coffee and Conversation
Come to the library to meet new people, share stories and practice your English conversation skills!
People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to participate in this drop-in program. The program provides a relaxed environment for English learners to practice speaking and listening in English.
This is a drop-in program, so no registration is required.
ESL Coffee and Conversation is now offered at 7 branch locations around Calgary, including:

• Central Library
• Country Hills
• Crowfoot
• Forest Lawn
• Saddletowne
• Shawnessy
• Village Square

ESL Teen Talk
ESL Teen Talk is a program for newcomer teens to practice their English language skills and enjoy fun activities in a safe and friendly environment. This program allows teens to make friends and strengthen their English language skills.

This program is geared toward teens between the ages of 10-14.

To register for this program, please call 403-260-2620 or register by clicking on Programs and Classes from the Calgary Public Website to register.

Language Learning Lab
The Language Learning Lab is located on the 5th floor of the Central Library. The Lab provides audio equipment and language learning materials that are designed to improve various English language skills, such as pronunciation, vocabulary, listening and speaking. Customers also have the opportunity to learn new languages.

Mango Languages
Mango Languages offers a fast, easy, and effective way to learn a foreign language, including English. All Calgary Public Library cardholders are able to access Mango Languages online free-of-charge!
