The smelting and casting of copper can be traced back to the fourth millennium B.C. in Europe. The Bronze Age was ushered in centuries later when mankind realized that stronger tools, weapons and ornamental artifacts could be made from an alloy of copper and tin known as bronze. Today modern foundries, using state-of-the-art equipment and foundry practices, continue to provide consumers and industry with a variety of high quality products.
The Castings & Ingots section includes an updated, condensed version of Publication No.13, Copper and Copper Alloy Castings. This reference describes seven foundry processes used to manufacture castings and provides technical information on copper and copper alloys used for casting. A complete hard copy version of this manual, containing tables on mechanical properties and specifications may be obtained by clicking here.
The Sourcing Directory lists the capabilities of the CCBDA’s foundry members as well as providing contact numbers and links to their web sites.
