ALERTS IN EFFECT
Freezing Rain Warning
Issued at 11:13 Sunday 11 February 2018
Freezing rain expected today.
Periods of ice pellets or freezing rain have moved into Southwestern Ontario and will continue to advance eastward to reach the Golden Horseshoe near noon. A brief period of snow may precede the freezing rain, but any snowfall accumulations are expected to be minimal.
Although the freezing rain will likely persist for several hours today, ice accumulations are expected to limited to a few millimetres at most as the freezing rain should be fairly light.
The freezing rain will change to flurries early this afternoon over Southwestern Ontario to Golden Horseshoe later this afternoon or early evening.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
