When and How Do I Apply?
One of three things will happen:
1/You receive a letter from Service Canada the month after your 64th birthday telling you may be eligible for the OAS pension. If so, you need to complete and send in the enclosed application form.
2/You receive a letter from Service Canada the month after your 64th birthday telling you that you have been selected for automatic enrollment. If the information in the letter is accurate, you do not have to do anything further. If you wish to defer your pension, you can either access your Service Canada account or complete the attached form and send it in.
3/You do not receive a letter from Service Canada the month after your 64th birthday. In this case, you will have to apply for the OAS pension or visit a Service Canada office near you.
