As a commercial technician with installation experience in Phone, Cable TV, intranet, the Technician will be pulling/fishing cable, connecting lines to existing structure in the office building setting.
Most of the work is done in government offices, like office buildings, court houses and municipal buildings. You must qualify to obtain the "Government Security Clearance".

We are currently seeking experienced and motivated Fibre Optic Splicers / Fibre Technicians from across Canada to join our outside plant (OSP) field operations with current projects in British Columbia and Ontario for permanent, full-time positions. Fiber Optic Splicer / Fibre Technicians are involved in all facets of fiber splicing including cable preparation, termination, fusion-splicing, testing and troubleshooting.
These positions may require travel on a rotational basis and candidates are welcome to apply from any province. The work may be local or require travel depending on the location of the applicant as the current positions will be located in British Columbia and Ontario.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre sites and links
- Documenting and reporting on completed telecommunication work
- Maintaining project and telecom safety documentation
- Inspecting fiber routes and hub sites as preventative maintenance
- Ensuring all attended sites are clearly labelled
- Locating faults and mobilizing resources within minimal time to counter fault
- Reviewing engineered plans and blueprints
- Proficient in fibre cable termination with connectors
- Well versed in fusion splicing machine technique
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation
- Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere including, but is not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels)
- Self-disciplined, motivated and organized
- 2+ years Fibre Optic splicing experience
- Technical training considered an asset
- Previous telecommunications experience and testing for improved experience
- Experience using FO troubleshooting tools (i.e. OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing, etc.)
- Experience with electrical or working around power
- Engineering experience considered an asset
- Preference given to those with additional experience or FTTX / FTTH project experience
- Field experience in outside plant (OSP) operations
- Valid driver’s license (preference given to Class 3 and above), reasonable driver abstract
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required
- Willingness to travel would be beneficial as travel options may arise for future projects
- The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check
