Blooming Now
February 23, 2015 – It’s a new season, and our ‘Whitcomb’ cherry trees are looking great. These have five petals, dark pink flowers fading to very pale pink. The flowers pictured here are from 49th and Killarney, photo by Cherry Scout Anne Eng. This is around three weeks earlier than last year, but it’s not the earliest we’ve seen. You can read more in the Killarney Neighbourhood Blog, and you can Search for ‘Whitcomb’ locations on our festival map.
By way of comparison, our thousands of plum trees will be opening soon. Here is a photo from a previous year to show you what they look like – note the round buds sticking out like single lollipops from the branches.

說明：溫哥華市擁有50多種獨特的櫻花品種，除了許多日本進口的櫻花品種，也不乏英美栽培的園藝品種。日本自古喜愛櫻花，除了原本就有的野生 品種，至少有200多種園藝品種。
你有看過這些特別的櫻花品種嗎：不斷櫻、福笑女神櫻、瀟灑櫻、潘朵拉櫻、星垂櫻、海貓櫻、鷹尾櫻、提燈櫻、鬱金櫻、御車返櫻、敦盛櫻 、絲捲櫻、上香櫻、市原虎之尾櫻、楊貴妃櫻、御衣黃櫻、銀河櫻、松月櫻、朱雀櫻、菊櫻。
依照櫻花樹生長地日本與東亞的氣候、濕度與土壤，溫哥華的櫻花大致可以區分為冬季東亞南部鐘型花的寒緋櫻品種、(今年預測)二月下旬日本 河濱的江戶彼岸櫻品種、櫻桃李花
三月上旬的垂櫻品種、日本中部的吉野櫻、大島櫻、三月中旬的日本山櫻與北部的大山櫻系、火山的豆櫻與高山的嶺櫻系，三月下旬的重瓣混種里櫻與香櫻，四月上旬的關山櫻與西藏櫻，四月中旬的白普賢櫻與菊櫻。

再过一个月才是怒放时期。
多倫多high park的櫻花今年要盛開，估計要到六月份了。
