Parking restrictions delayed in downtown
The GazetteMarch 11, 2010
The "no parking" signs downtown may warn you about March 1, but you don't have to start worrying until April 1.
Parking restrictions to accommodate street cleaning in Ville Marie borough go into effect April 1, not March 1.
The decision to delay the restrictions was made last month and follows complaints from residents who, in previous years, found themselves ticketed for blocking street-cleaning equipment after March 1, even though snow was still on the ground.
Ville Marie's decision to delay its street-cleaning restrictions until April 1 brings it into line with the boroughs of Ahuntsic/Cartierville, Côte des Neiges/Notre Dame de Grâce, Plateau Mont Royal, Southwest, Outremont, Rivière des Prairies/Pointe aux Trembles, Rosemont/Petite-Patrie, Lachine, Verdun, Mercier/Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Villeray/St. Michel/Park Extension.
Parking restrictions go into effect Monday, March 15, in St. Léonard and Anjou boroughs, however, and they've been in effect since March 1 in Montreal North.
LaSalle borough brings its parking restrictions into force April 16, while the restrictions in St. Laurent borough are in effect all year.
There are no street-cleaning restrictions on parking in the boroughs of Île Bizard/Ste. Geneviève or Pierrefonds/Roxboro.
Any resident who is unsure of the parking restrictions on his or her street is urged to call 311.
