Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown is trying to pass himself off as Ontario's "Stephen Harper". Patrick is suggesting that he is just doing what Stephen Harper did with social conservatives. But Patrick and those like him just doesn't get it.
I was a member of Stephen Harper's caucus from 2004 till he stepped down as leader in 2015. It wasn't perfect, but inside Stephen Harper's Big Tent, were many MPs who were social conservatives.
Since Sam Oosterhoff was elected as an Ontario MPP, Patrick Brown has gone out of his way to block social conservatives from winning nominations to be Ontario PC candidates.
Unlike Stephen Harper, Patrick Brown - and those who think like him - don't respect social conservatives. They don't want anything like Stephen Harper's Big Tent CONSERVATIVE Party. They want our party to be "a socially liberal" party.
That's just one reason why I'm running for the Leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada. I understand that to win in 2019 we need ALL parts of our conservative family working together. We need fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, cultural conservatives, law-and-order conservatives, democratic conservatives and national security conservatives.
The impact of carbon pricing in any form won't be limited to the cost of heating homes and driving cars either. Carbon pricing will make fuel burned by farmers for their spring and fall farm work more expensive. Natural gas required to heat producers' hog, chicken and dairy barns will be more costly. The price of transporting everything to your local stores will go up as well. All this means food will be more expensive for everyone too.
Michael Chong and Kevin O'Leary support a national carbon tax. I don't agree with them, but I respect that they are clear about what they believe and what they will do if elected. Everyone else in this race is afraid of special interest groups and the left-wing media, so they are resorting to politically correct bafflegab.

Against M-103
M-103, the anti-Islamophobia motion currently before the House of Commons entitled “Systemic racism and religious discrimination", will come to a vote soon. After reading and considering the text of the motion, I will be voting against it.
As someone whose faith is integral to my life, I am grateful for and believe very strongly in the religious freedom we enjoy here in Canada. That freedom, which includes protection against discrimination based on your faith, is a right for ALL Canadians and I will fight to protect those rights and freedoms.
M-103 is not inclusive. It singles out just one faith. I believe that all religions deserve the same level of respect and protection.
M-103 does not define Islamophobia.
M-103 could be interpreted as a step towards stifling free speech and legitimate criticism.
It is also important to note that we already have laws that protect Canadians against discrimination based on their faith. We also have laws against inciting violence.
For all these reasons, I will be voting against M-103.
Scrap the Carbon Tax
Canada’s natural environment is spectacular. A Carbon Tax, however, does nothing to protect it. Instead, it transfers your money to the government for projects that offer you little benefit.
Canada produces less than two per cent of global greenhouse gases thanks to the generation of clean electricity and long-standing air pollution controls. A Carbon Tax not only discourages investment in Canada but it hurts you. Today, Canadians will cook their breakfast, drive to work, buy groceries, heat their home and play hockey at the rink. The Liberal Carbon Tax makes these activities and necessities of life more expensive. It raises the cost of everything and puts jobs at risk while doing little for the environment.
As Prime Minister, Andrew will cancel the Liberal Carbon Tax. He will support a sector by sector approach to reduce greenhouse gases in cooperation with industry and the United States. This will protect Canada’s environment while keeping jobs in Canada and more money in your pocket.
Cheaper Flights
Canadians pay more for airfare than most other people in the world. While other countries allow entrepreneurs and established airlines the freedom to introduce innovative low-cost options for travellers, Canadians are required to settle for what government thinks we should get. It’s long past time for Canada to catch up with the rest of the world.
That’s why as Prime Minister, I will ensure Canadians have access to cheaper airfare by:
Removing foreign ownership restrictions on airlines;

Here’s what you need to know leading up to the convention in May.

一个个来: Maxime Bernier
Before O’Leary entered the race, Maxime Bernier appeared to be leading the pack in terms of fundraising and endorsements. The most important things to know about Bernier is that he’s a libertarian (favouring much smaller government and lower taxes) and he’s a francophone. He’s a lawyer by trade, and held three cabinet portfolios under Harper, including foreign minister, during which time he gained notoriety for leaving confidential documents at the home of his former girlfriend, Julie Couillard.

Kevin O’Leary, the Dragons’ Denand Shark Tankbusinessman and political outsider, finally entered the racein January after months of not-so-subtle suggestions that he’d throw his hat in the ring (he set up an exploratory committee and asked the public whether he should or shouldn’t run). He’s got the most name recognition of all the candidates (though this Abacus poll run after O’Leary’s entry also gave that candidate the highest number of both positive AND negative reactions amongs Canadians). O’Leary quickly became a target for his spotty business record, questionable judgment (on the day of a funeral for victims of the Quebec City mosque shooting, his social media accounts posted, then pulled, a video of O’Leary at a shooting range) and lack of time spent in Canada (he’s had a home in Boston for the past 20 years, though he also has a home in Toronto and a cottage in Muskoka). Lisa Raitt’s campaign set up the websiteStopKevinOLeary.com even before he officially entered the race (which he did the morning after the Tories’ French-language debate). But his plans to run Canada like a business seems to be finding an audience.

Kellie Leitch is one of the more divisive candidates in the race, based on her pledge to screen new immigrants, refugees and visitors for “anti-Canadian values.” This pediatric surgeon and former Harper cabinet minister (she held both the Labour and Status of Women files when the 2015 election was called) has been involved in Conservative party politics since she was a teenager and often rails against “media elites,” which has earned her fans amongst populist conservatives who want to see more nationalism in Ottawa. The most recent data has her in second place for fundraising. You might remember her from the “barbaric cultural practices” tip line announcement during the 2015 race. She’s so far pledged to legalize pepper spray if elected and delivered a speech in February against “politically correct nonsense,” related to the government’s anti-Islamophobia motion M-103.

Lisa Raitt, who was Conservative finance critic before stepping down to run for the leadership, is a successful cabinet minister and has won over members with her relatable personality. She’s banking on the public’s desire to return to a steadier Harper-esque approach to managing the economy, pushing job creation and investments in infrastructure.

Erin O’Toole, former minister of Veterans Affairs and former Air Force captain is winning a ton of endorsements, including an important one from Atlantic Canada — the leader of the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservatives, Jamie Baillie (they worked together to bring the Nova Scotia PCs back to government in 1999).
geomarb : 2017-03-12#122
Andrew Scheer, a Saskatchewan MP who was Speaker of the House under the Conservatives (and, not yet 32 when appointed, the youngest to hold that position), is well respected and has an impressive amount of support from Conservative MPs and strong fundraising. He’s been touting himself as a “real” conservative with a pledge to add property rights to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (appealing to rural landowners) while balancing the budget.
Brad Trost and Pierre Lemieux see the search for a new leader as a chance to get social conservative issues back on the table. Trost, another Saskatchewan MP, is marketing himself as “100% conservative,” voicing support for the “traditional” definition of marriage and hinting at reopening the abortion debate. Lemieux is big on freedom of speech issues and attacking “chronic political correctness” in Ottawa.

Steven Blaney, a Quebec MP, wants to revive the Harper government’s effort to ban niqabs from citizenship ceremonies. The Trudeau government dropped the government’s Supreme Court of Canada appeal on the issue in November 2015. The former minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness has also promised to strengthen the powers of Canada’s security agencies to “substantially expand their current screening capacity regarding potential national security threats.”

Chris Alexander was Canada’s first resident ambassador to Afghanistan and Minister of Citizenship and Immigration under Harper. He took a lot of heat during the last federal election for not immediately responding to the Syrian refugee crisis. He’s pushing job creation, too, and lays blame at the feet of Trudeau for worsening the crisis in Syria.

Deepak Obhrai, a long-serving Calgary MP who served as parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, says he wants to build a Conservative party for a more youthful, multicultural Canada. Known for his playful sense of humour, Obhrai recently grabbed headlines for challenging O’Leary to a one-on-one debate (O’Leary declined).
geomarb : 2017-03-12#128
Rick Peterson and Andrew Saxton are the lower-profile businessmen in the race. Peterson is a venture capitalist focused on appealing to business owners while Saxton is pushing equality-of-opportunity in his vision for Canada’s economic future.

With less than two months to go before voting begins for the Conservative Party leadership, Maxime Bernier and Kevin O'Leary are the front-runners, according to an analysis of endorsement, fundraising and polling data.
Bernier narrowly leads O'Leary based on a composite of four metrics (endorsements, fundraising, contributors and polls) that estimates how much support each candidate would likely have on the first ballot if the leadership vote were held today — call it the Conservative Leadership Index.
The index, which gives candidates a score out of 100, was tested on 14 recent federal and provincial leadership races and replicated the first ballot results with a median error of +/- 2.2 points. The index was more predictive of first ballot outcomes than the average performance of any single metric that makes up the composite.
Bernier and O'Leary the leaders
Bernier scores highest on the index thanks to his strong performance across all four metrics: he led the field in fundraising in the final quarter of 2016 and received funds from the most individual contributors.
The Quebec MP also ranks second in polls of Conservative members and third in endorsements with 17.1 per cent of endorsement points awarded so far in the campaign. (Endorsement points are determined by the value of an endorser and are weighted by province.)
These four metrics give Bernier a score of 20.3 points.
That puts him narrowly ahead of O'Leary, who has 17.8 points.
我看kellie Leitch 和 steven blaney 就是稍微偏右而已 , 当然在加拿大算最右, 但和法国, 德国那些右翼政党领导人比起来差太远

Scheer, Leitch and O'Toole in 2nd tier
Andrew Scheer ranks third in the index with 12.9 points, boosted in large part by his lead in endorsements (he has 29.5 per cent of points awarded so far).
Kellie Leitch, with 10.2 points, has very little establishment support but has posted strong fundraising numbers.
She is narrowly ahead of her fellow Ontario MP Erin O'Toole, who ranks fifth with 9.6 points.
geomarb : 2017-03-14#278
Raitt, Chong in middle ranks
Ontario MPs Lisa Raitt and Michael Chong come up next in the index with 6.2 and 5.7 points, respectively
geomarb : 2017-03-14#279
Voting blocs at the bottom
Steven Blaney ranks eighth with 4.5 points, largely thanks to his high number of donors in Quebec.
Pierre Lemieux and Brad Trost each have 2.8 points.
Chris Alexander (2.3 points), Andrew Saxton (1.9), Deepak Obhrai (1.9) and Rick Peterson (1.0) round out the list of 14 candidates.
It certainly wasn't what Allie Szarkiewicz was hoping for after Kevin O'Leary missed his first campaign event in Winnipeg on Monday and spoke to the crowd of about 100 people over Skype instead.
The businessman and reality televisions star's team told the crowd that O'Leary couldn't make it because inclement weather had cancelled his flight from Toronto.
However, no flights between the cities were cancelled that night and O'Leary missed his initial flight for business meetings.
"I felt cheated and I think a lot of people in the audience also felt cheated that he didn't make a better effort to show up," Szarkiewicz said.
Szarkiewicz said when O'Leary started speaking she wasn't sure if it was pre-recorded because he didn't seem to be responding to applause on the video. But then the Conservative Party leadership front-runner started taking questions from the crowd, some submitted beforehand and some live.
Some people on Twitter started pointing out that no flights had been cancelled.
"Why would you lie about missing your flight? Do you think we can't look up cancelled flights?" tweeted a user named Paul Beaudry.

Maxime Bernier wants to close loophole in Safe Third Country Agreement, send refugees back to US
The loophole currently prevents refugees who cross the Canada-U.S. border illegally to be turned away – instead, they are arrested and able to start a claims process to stay in Canada
The number of asylum seekers crossing the unguarded portions of the border has soared in recent months, a trend Bernier said allows some to get ahead of “real refugees.”
“We should close the loophole in Third Safe County agreement with US and sent [sic] them back. They are unfairly getting ahead of real refugees,” Bernier said in response to a question about illegal immigration on Twitter Monday.
More than 7,000 refugee applicants entered Canada in 2016 through land ports of entry from the United States, up 63 percent from the previous year, according to Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Another 2,000 entered by crossing the border without official authorization through unguarded sections of the border.
Manitoba and Quebec have experienced the highest volume of illegal crossings in recent months.
