Intel's Programmable Solutions Group (PSG) IP Engineering team (PIPE) develops comprehensive solutions to provide customers easy and efficient access to the capabilities of Intel's FPGA devices. These solutions are provided as highly-configurable intellectual property IP cores that are fully integrated with Intel PSG's software CAD tool, Quartus II.
Have you ever thought "FPGA's are too hard to develop for? It takes a long time to create a design?" If yes, then the FPGA Acceleration Libraries (FAL) is the team for you. Currently FPGA's are widely used by RTL developers, but the team aims to bridge the gap and make them more accessible for software and application developers. Many applications today can benefit from a dedicated hardware accelerator due to increasing data and compute demands, and FPGA's are perfect to pair with CPU's to meet the growing bandwidth requirements.
As a FAL IP Design Engineer, you will work with a team of engineers to create an eco-system of high level libraries, for Maths/Stats/Linear Algebra/etc, that are built on top of High Level Design tools, OpenCL and High Level Synthesis, for customers to directly reuse these in their application to get high performance from FPGA's and have a much faster design time, without changing the high level application or API's. You will be also developing applications in financial, data analytics and other industries as proof of concepts and example designs, accompanied by a rich set of technical documentation. These libraries and applications can be developed in OpenCL, C++ or Verilog.
Additionally, you will get a chance to develop and optimize host side drivers/applications to optimize for performance metrics like throughput, bandwidth, latency etc. while using FPGA's.
Your specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Architecture and Design of high level libraries
- Research of new compute algorithms which are suitable for abstraction
- OpenCL, C++, RTL development
- Verification (e.g. verification IP, infrastructure, framework, regression tests)
