麻省总医院在重疫区Chelsea镇街头抽查了200个路人的血液，唯一要求是不能是确诊病例。发现其中64人（32%）有新冠病毒抗体。该镇有大约4万人口，712个确诊病例，39人死亡。如果抽查结果能够外推，该镇已有13000人被感染，病死率0.3%。
根据这个比例，加拿大全国平均感染率达32%，可能将近4万人死亡；大约要死掉8万人之后，才出现群体免疫现象(人口中70%有新冠病毒抗体)。
