说实话，我对加拿大护照第一次申请需要保证人和推荐人这个要求很不满意。其他国家，包括美国，都没有这个要求。但是澳大利亚和英国有类似的要求。
我2022年的时候特地写信给负责发行护照的部长写信，就是希望他们以后考虑废除这个要求。我的一个论点是，如果说这个要求的目的是确认护照申请人的身份，那对于归化的新公民来说，是多此一举，因为我们的入籍申请的过程中已经经历了一次非常严格的身份确认过程。
“If the requirement for guarantors and references is to serve the purpose of identity verification, then it is in my opinion, a rather redundant requirement for naturalized citizens whose application for citizenship has already undergone a rigorous process of identity and background check by the government of Canada.They should not therefore have to find yet another 3 people to help prove who they are, when they apply for their first Canadian passport.”
