招募新血 向华人招手

面对日益繁复的任务和各种新挑战，骑警招募新血时更讲求多元化；而作为全国「万能」警队，也给予新人全面而坚实的培训。

据卑诗皇家骑警招募部门发言人林克(Kalinda Link)表示，骑警近年加大对包括华裔在内的各族裔新警招募活动，但没有统计新警员族裔比例。骑警对新警员的培训全面而严格，申请人须达到标?才可以成为警队一员。

林克透露，因居住人口密集程度的关系，卑诗骑警新血较多来自人口较多的都市地区。同时，骑警近年力争警队组成反映所服务社区人口特点，招募新警时力图展现多元文化特色，曾经多次举办针对各族裔社区的招募行动。

她举例说，2012年3月3日，招募部曾在烈治文市时代坊(Aberdeen Centre)举行招募华裔的就业博览同乐日，即场解答投考骑警问题，并且接受登记，吸引数百人参加。
华裔加入骑警人数上升

任职本拿比的华裔骑警警长罗锦添也表示，华裔加入骑警数目近年呈上升趋势，但确实统计暂仍没有。

林克就强调，在广纳新血的同时，骑警培训工作严格而细坷，申请人由自报名到通过考核获录用，历时6个月至18个月。

过了第一关之后，申请人将前往沙省利斋拿(Regina)的骑警培训基地，接受长达24周的集中培训。他们这时候必须接受射击和枪械知识、驾驶、加拿大《刑事法》(Criminal Code)等相关法律知识，还有武力使用和自卫等多个科目的学习。统计数字显示，11.6％学员因未能达标而无法从警。

新警员宣誓就职后，须再接受6个月辅导执勤和两年试用期，此后每年重新评估，定期接受培训，以确保达到骑警标?。
