由温市建筑师罗特（Ross Lort）设计，外观酷似童话故事书的村屋，因此被许多温市居民称为霍比特人屋（Hobbit House）。

说起霍比特人，你还记得《魔戒》中充满童话色彩的霍比特人村庄吗？霍比特村是一片美丽的世外桃源，尤其是村落里独居特色的圆形小屋，让人非常向往。

在温哥华King Edward Avenue和Cambie的这栋与传说中霍比特村庄小屋造型非常相似的小屋，因为房屋造型梦幻，几乎所有经过的路人都会驻足。

根据realtor网站房地产经纪人信息，这栋面积超过2900平方英尺的房屋，带有12英尺的拱形天花板，以及宽敞的房间，美食厨房和豪华主卧室。

这是一幢历史遗产建筑，霍比特人之家是由设计师Brenton Lea构思，建筑师Ross Anthony Lort设计的三处霍比特住宅中的一幢。

2014-1-21

One of Vancouver's "Hobbit Houses" will be restored as part of a townhouse development if the owner has his way.

W.T. Leung Architects has filed a rezoning application with the City of Vancouver that includes restoration of the heritage home at 587 West King Edward Avenue as part of a 20-unit three-storey townhouse complex.

"The house will be restored to the original design intent," architect Wing Ting Leung told The Huffington Post B.C., and that will include removing an elevator that was added to the rear.

Developer David Mooney bought the property last year and engaged heritage consultant Donald Luxton to see how the home might be incorporated into a new development.

The Hobbit house is one of three designed by builder Brenton T. Lea in the 1940s. It is listed on the City of Vancouver's heritage B register, meaning it may have some historical significance in the neighbourhood.

The proposal includes two townhouses behind the house itself, with 18 more planned for the adjacent lot.

The city has not yet set a meeting to consider the application.

作为历史遗产建筑，霍比特人之家安静地树立在街道的一隅有90年，几乎是半部加拿大历史。

霍比特人之家是由Brenton Lea构思，建筑师Ross Anthony Lort设计的三处霍比特住宅中的一栋。这三栋“100%加拿大材料建造”的房屋如出一辙地采用“海浪”流线型屋顶、铅条装饰的玻璃窗、不规则的泥灰墙面设计，这三大亮点让它们成为温哥华“Story Book” 童话风格建筑代表，也在温哥华厚重的欧洲烙印中，加上了些浪漫的元素。

三栋“Story Book” 房屋中的第一栋被称为“Lea House”, 位于3979 W Broadway, Vancouver 。屋子在1942年完工，是当时Brenton Lea家人的住宅。这栋房屋在2004-2009年三次转手，最后在2009年以$165万加元的价格卖给了一个名叫James Curtis的开发商，随后他与当地市政府达成协议花费$100万加元将房屋翻新。作为“回报”，James Curtis获批一大块土地用于开发。

第二栋就是位于King Edward Avenue上的霍比特人之家，当时是为一位在加拿大国家铁路局（Canadian National Railway）任职的工头所建造。霍比特人之家在1970年转手一名医生，2013年5月这栋占地2416平方英尺的房屋以$286万加元挂牌，当时的地产经纪人Mary Ellen Maasik大肆宣传拆除它并建造更大房子的潜力。最后霍比特人之家被地产开发商David Mooney购得，坚持把房屋保留了下来并翻新。



此外，温哥华市政府也批准了建商W.T. Leung Architects更改该物业土地用途，在“霍比特屋”周围增建两栋三层的城市屋。霍比特人之家的所在地段靠近Canada Line天铁站，随着天铁周边的开发，房价增值唾手可得，能够保留下来也算是一段童话现实版地产商“网开一面”。

如今霍比特人之家与新建的城市屋毗邻而居，现实和童话，别有趣味。

第三栋位于西温 885 Braeside Street。2013年该独立屋以$300万易主，至今原貌无恙。
