Imperial Oil going ahead with construction of $2.6B Aspen oilsands project
November 7, 2018 by The Canadian Press

CALGARY — Imperial Oil Ltd. says it will go ahead with its $2.6-billion Aspen oilsands project.
Construction will begin this year, with the project expected to start up in 2022.
The Aspen project, located about 45 kilometres northeast of Fort McMurray, Alta., is expected to produce about 75,000 barrels of bitumen per day.
It will use new oilsands recovery technology designed to lower greenhouse gas emissions’ intensity and water use.
Imperial says the technology is estimated to reduce the intensity and water use by up to 25 per cent, compared with traditional steam-assisted technology.
The Aspen project is expected to create about 700 jobs during peak construction and more than 200 jobs during operations.

The Heartland Petrochemical Complex will be designed to convert locally sourced, low-cost propane into 525,000 tonnes per year of polypropylene, a high value, easy to transport plastic used in the manufacturing of a wide range of finished products.Consisting of a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) and a polypropylene (PP) facility, the Heartland Petrochemical Complex will cost approximately $3.5 billion and will be located in Strathcona county, Alberta near Inter Pipeline’s existing Redwater Olefinic Fractionator.
Construction of the Heartland Petrochemical Complex is in progress with completion scheduled for late 2021.

Throughout the construction, there will be a total of 13,000 direct and indirect jobs created. Once the facility is operational, that number drops to around 880.

但是，属于工人，不属于工程师吧？
所以，不要瞎套职称。
操作工人和工程师差远了。

我要纠正一个误解：
在加拿大，工人和工程师，或者其他白领，待遇差海了。
工人在全世界哪里，待遇都是最差的！！ 没有之一。加拿大的工人和白领差别更大。
一些人狗屁不通，以讹传讹。视乎在加拿大工人多么挣钱似的。。

再说一遍，在加拿大，工人苦死了。尤其是建筑工人，基本都是难民和无证黑户在干。血汗钱。而且没有福利。
平均小时薪水低的吓人。

不太了解建筑工人，干过一个月，确实挺苦的，才来的时候苦于经验和英语，体会一下
工程师当然好，需要有教育背景，这个因人而异，我有时间，也会像工程师方面发展，可是受制于年龄，已经不太可能走上这条路了。
加拿大的工作，白领当然好，扫地的也能养家糊口，这是我的个人只见。

本来，作为一个超高收入者，社会精英阶层，我应该对社会底层人士，比如车娃、鸡哥等等报以同情之心，但是这些人自己非得把自己说成什么社会精英、成功人士，高收入群体，就恶心人了，激起了公愤了。不寒碜一下他们，对不起大家、对不起良心。
他们这些底层人士显摆， 我本来没有太大意见，也无意在他们伤口撒盐，毕竟大家都不容易。但是他们这些混蛋，仅仅为了自己的所谓面子，置社会公德于不顾，满口谎言，严重误导未来者。

One of power engineers in the company is going to retire and he sent a long farewell letter to co-workers to wrap up his 43 year career as a power plant operator. This part of the letter is a real eye-opener that you can't believe:

My last story is about fake employees . There was a xxx plant operator that only had a Fourth Class Steam ticket but TOLD the company that he Got his Third Class Steam ticket ,so they promoted him to Board Operator , then after a while told the company that he now had his Second Class Steam ticket , so they promoted him to Assistant Shift Engineer So this was a fake times two, imaginary ticket . The company kept bugging him to bring in his ticket he always had an excuse to not bring it in . Well they found out eventually, that he only had a Fourth , so they fired him . The xxx plant operator CREATED a Third class ticket and put it up on our wall in the control room . So this was a real fake ticket. Well they caught him and fired him , but THAT S.O.B. still owes me a 12 hour shift payback . The next one was a new hire Shift Supervisor that conned BC into issuing a BC First Class Steam ticket on a non existent Ontario ticket , so this was a real , then fake imaginary , ticket and the company caught him and fired him when they did a background check . The last " fake employee " had his BROTHER , lets call him Brother #1 , do the job interview , get the job, and then the other Brother lets call him Brother # 2 , came to work in Brother # 1 stead !!!!!!!! So # 2 was a real person , just a fake employee . Sigh , Only at xxx company , they say.
