ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll & Benefits Administrator to support our mining and exploration projects from our corporate office in Vancouver, British Columbia.
As a member of the Accounting team, you'll perform a variety of clerical and accounting tasks, including data entry. You'll also be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and keep all employee information relevant to payroll up-to-date.
This is a dynamic role that will also see you act as Employee Benefits Administrator and provide support to other roles within the department.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Payroll
- Processing semi-monthly payroll for all salaried, hourly and daily employees
- Ensuring that all payroll changes are made accurately and in time for effected pay periods
- Reviewing timesheets and work hours for completeness and accuracy, and entering in JD Edwards
- Ensuring the accurate processing of sick pay and vacation pay
- Reviewing and reconciling semi-monthly payroll for accuracy and completeness
- Processing payroll and special payments, as required, on a timely basis
- Creating required internal management reports from the payroll system
- Responding to employee and government agency inquiries in regards to payroll and benefits
- Compiling payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, benefits and deductions
- Creating, maintaining and updating employee profiles as information is received
- Staying current with payroll regulations, standards and work methods
- Building strong working relationships with Management, Finance, HR and Site Administrators
- Verifying and maintaining accurate benefit enrollments and terminations
- Reconciling all benefits and deductions on a monthly basis
- Compiling all necessary backup and generate reporting, as required
- Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding payroll and benefits inquiries
For this role, we're seeking someone who is sensitive, tactful, diplomatic and professional at all times. You'll be highly organized and will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, especially when the pressure is on. You'll also be a strong communicator and be capable of prioritizing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Most importantly, you'll have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuinely enjoy working in a team environment. The ability to adhere to policies and follow established procedures is required, as is the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
