Although XXX has gifts for learning, he also has some attitude and behavior issues. Every lesson he is highly argumentative in terms of always wanting to debate things I say, not in an aggressive way, he just wants to debate far too often in the lessons, which is not productive. He is extremely talkative and I get the impression that he wishes to not be fully productive in the lessons. On many instances, I have to continuously ask him to get back on track and work on the task at hand. As well, he typically asks how much time is left in the lesson.
XXXX has a certain stubbornness in his learning, and this is one of his main issues. Earlier in his lessons, Nathan was trying to take far too many shortcuts and not putting in the effort to learn how to read properly. This was hindering his progress and caused some slower progress, which could have been avoided if he had followed my instruction on how to do read notes correctly when he didn't remember what the note was. Eventually, with persistence, I was able to correct this issue with him. After working with him, reading the notes is no longer a difficulty. His reading ability is very strong now. On the first attempt, he is able to mostly play perfectly the notes on the page. This does not point to an issue with the "difficulty" of the music.
