我倒是专业学外语的，只不过是学日语，从初中开始。也学了些所谓的二外英语，早还给老师了，应该说当时就没怎么学。我是80年代初上大学，刚上大学是当时还没有提小语种需学二外的问题。临到大三了说二外不及格不能毕业，现开二外，教课的就是刚毕业在一起喝酒踢球的哥们，可想而知授课效果。考试时，给老师买包好烟，撵到门外去放风，然后让中学学过英语的同学在黑板上做答案。40分钟后皆大欢喜。
当时怎么可能想到回有今天啊

刚登陆时在政府测语言水平，我太太和她的同学送我过去。我太太对我倒有充分了解，知道我肚子里有几两香油，她知道我连房间的号码都未必听明白，所以轮到我时，她把我送到面试房间的门口。
进门，坐下，白人女考官问“What is your name?"她说得挺快（至少当时我觉得快），我一下愣住，没听明白，。直到她问第三遍。哦，问我叫什么呢，回答。再问”where are you from>"。我就不知道她问什么了。问到第二遍，我想，问问名该问姓了吧，很款款然说了last name.那考官瞪着我看，又问句什么，我知道我上一句答错了，这回不敢瞎说了，摇摇头。考官不说话了，手往她身后的墙上一指。墙上有个表，表下有用中文写的一行字：你的考试已经结束，你考试的成绩会邮寄给你。
就这么结束了，2-3分钟。我太太和她同学正要出去喝茶，还没走到门口呢，看我出来了，甚是惊讶。见到她们，我赶紧问”where are you from>"是什么意思。太太没回答，反问我，你咋说的？我说，我回答我姓什么。俩人哪个乐啊！
一个星期后，成绩单来了，结果大家都猜得到。
