LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) For the second year in a row, the People's Choice Awards have produced a set of nominees that is no more out of left field than, say, the Golden Globes or the Emmys.

The 32nd annual awards, which will air Jan. 10 on CBS, honor fan favorites in movies, TV and music, plus two special "funny star" categories. Craig Ferguson ("The Late Late Show") will host the show. Among this year's nominees are "Desperate Housewives," Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (both separately and together), "Everybody Loves Raymond," Johnny Depp and Jennifer Garner (twice). The list of was assembled the help of market researchers Knowledge Networks, which put together a sizable panel of 18- to 54-year-old consumers of pop culture to help pick the finalists in each category. And while the results might raise the odd eyebrow -- "Fear Factor" is a nominee for favorite reality show/competition, but Emmy winner "The Amazing Race" isn't, for instance -- they aren't the puzzler they've been in the past.

Previously, the awards were determined by a Gallup poll that asked people to name their favorite stars and shows -- which frequently resulted in winners who hadn't actually made a movie or starred in a series that year. The awards changed the nominating procedure last year and also opened up voting for winners via a web site (PCAvote.com) where people can cast their ballots.
