We are excited to announce that @JustinTrudeau will be joining us for his third Vancouver Pride Parade in 2016! #bettertogether#vanpride16
7:19 AM - 30 Jun 2016
President of Vancouver Pride Society Alan Jernigan says having Trudeau march in the parade is a “tremendous honour.”
“I think it is a tremendous commitment to our community, along with the actions like putting forward the bill to get gender identity included as a protected class in the human rights code,” Jernigan told Global News. “In the wake of the shooting in Orlando and as an American living in Canada, I feel amazing to live in a place where the leader of our government is willing to march in solidarity with our community.”
The 38th annual Vancouver Pride Parade is taking place on Sunday, July 31 this year.
A government source told Global News Trudeau is also taking part in Toronto’s Pride Parade this weekend and in Montreal’s Pride Parade on Aug. 14.
