你别自己吓自己了。看你叙事颠三倒四的，我也没搞明白到底你为什么认为商场发现了你偷东西。

对加拿大警察来说，没有人身伤害的案件，这都是“小事“，一般商场不当场抓到报警，警察不会管的。

更不用说，你已经还回去，已不构成犯罪了。

即使万一闹到法庭，法官一定也会dismiss这个case的。

Nothing would happen at all. There is a limit before they take it really seriously; it would change by provinces and territories but at least $5000 CAD, give or take. Even if they caught you right on the spot, you would only get a ticket and be asked to show up in court and pay for a fine. You will not go to jail for this but you would 100% have a record and it would impact your life later on in many ways. And of course you can pay for a lawyer to get rid of the record but it will cost you much much more than what you took from store without paying for it.
