The York School is an independent co-educational K ? 12 school in mid-town Toronto. The school has a strong technology focus with all students in grades 7 ? 12 using a P.C. laptop daily at home and school. The school requires a person to work collaboratively in their I.T. department with all aspects of technical support. He or she will work under the guidance of existing staff members and will report directly to the Director of Information Technology. This position is to replace a staff member on Maternity Leave for one year, beginning mid-February, 2010. The York School pays competitive salaries and has an excellent benefits package.
Duties will include:
Working on the laptop help desk on a regular basis.
Assisting staff and students with both hardware and software issues on a one-to-one basis.
Assisting with maintenance of school hardware, peripherals, and audio-visual equipment.
Documentation of help-desk issues.
Database administrative duties.
Working as a team member to enhance the school’s technology programme.
Attending regular meetings of the I.T. department.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate will possess:
A college diploma (or higher) in related areas.
A sound knowledge of the Windows operating system, the Microsoft Office suite, wireless technology and internet use.
A sound knowledge of multi-media tools.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Strong organizational skills, problem solving and analytical skills.
The ability to work as part of a team to collaborate with staff members to solve problems and enhance technology efficiency and use at the school.
Strong interpersonal skills, patience and a desire to help others, especially young people.
The ability to prioritize, organize work flow and multi-task even under pressure.
A self-motivated desire, ability and interest, to become familiar with educational software packages in order to support staff and students.
The following will be a definite asset:
Experience in an educational setting
Windows 7 experience
Apple computer experience
