- IF YOU GO
How to get there Quebec shares a border with New Hampshire but the best route is via Vermont. From Montreal, take Highways 10 east and 55 south to the border crossing at Stanstead and Derby Line, Vt. In Vermont, take Highways 91 and 93 to New Hampshire. How you proceed from there depends on from which end of the Kancamagus you want to start. If you opt for the Lincoln end, the 93 will take you there. After you have driven the Kanc and reach Conway, get on Highway 302 for your trip home. That highway takes you through another part of the White Mountains National Forest, including the dramatic Crawford Notch. On the other hand, if you opt to start at the Conway end of the Kancamagus, take the 93 to Littleton and then get on Highway 302, which will take you all the way to Conway.
WHERE TO STAY
There is no shortage of accommodations in and around Lincoln and Conway, both vibrant vacation areas year-round. We've been happy with a couple of condominium resorts over the years - The Seasons (
seasonsnh.com) and the Attitash Resort (
attitash.com), both in Bartlett, near Conway. For more accommodation ideas, visit the White Mountains Attractions Association (
