NOT a happy day for BC students. Time for British Columbians to ask themselves, what's more important than providing sound education for our kids and who is best to judge how to provide that service? The teachers who work directly with our children day after day... or a bunch of bureaucrats?!
If it Really is all about class size and composition, BCTF should drop the $5000 signing bonus demand , take the same % increase (as opposed to arrogantly asking for double that) that EVERY other public sector union has accepted, and make "class size and composition" the ONLY issue....your move BCTF.
Teachers pay has to live within the tax base . BC residents are already THE highest taxed province in Canada. I don't want to pay yet More taxes to meet BCTF's extortion numbers (not to mention $3000 per teacher in massage as a 'Benefit'...ridiculous).
