Laurent Duvernay-Tardif CQ (French: [lɔʁɑ̃ dyvɛʁne taʁdif]; born February 11, 1991) is a Canadian gridiron football guard for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Chiefs in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played university football at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is the fourth medical school graduate to play in the NFL.[1][2] Duvernay-Tardif was the first player to opt out of the 2020 NFL season due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic and he returned to the medical field in Canada.
