Planning Technician
FUNCTIONS:
The Planning and Development Department requires several self-motivated individuals to work in the Permitting and Licensing section. The successful candidates will be responsible for the following:
· Informing clients of the proper requirements for applications to ensure submissions are complete in order to perform a review.
· Conducting meetings with clients, as required, to ensure completeness and accuracy of applications.
· Liaising and co-ordinating with other civic departments and outside agencies regrading compliance with other relevant bylaws and related issues.
· Entering permits into POSSE system.
· Reviewing and processing of minor development permits.
· Reviewing and processing Compliance Certificate requests and Encroachment Agreement submissions.
· Performing related duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Completion of a two (2) year diploma in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent from a recognized Institute of Technology or Community College with appropriate specialization relative to the job posting.
· Considerable knowledge of planning regulations, practices, procedures, and work methods.
· Demonstrated skill in the use of computers.
· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
· Teamwork skills and the abililty to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Demonstrated conflict resolution and prioritization skills.
· Must be adaptable, flexible, and well organized.
· Knowledge and understanding of Real Property Reports.
HOURS OF WORK: 33.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
SALARY RANGE: 21M, Salary Grade: 019, $26.00 - $32.68 (Hourly), $1,754.73 - $2,205.63 (Bi-Weekly), $45,798.45 - $57,566.94 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
