Unit5 Banks:

Part 1:From Savings Accounts to Certificates of Deposit
http://www.dailyesl.com/bank-services.htm

Yesterday,I went to a bank to open up a savings and checking account. I deposit about $300 every month in my savings account to save money for major purchases or for a rainy day when I have unexpected expenses. My paycheck is deposited directly into my checking account, and I write out checks to pay my bills. My checking account is free if I maintain a minimum balance of $25 in the account. I also have about $100 automatically transferred from my checking to my savings account on a monthly basis. The accounts earn very little interest, but it's better than earning nothing. Therefore, I also have a certificate of deposit that earns a higher rate of interest, but I can't withdraw the money from the account for one year. Actually, I need money because I'm planning on taking out a student loan to pay for college tuition. Also, I rent a safety deposit box at the bank and store my valuables there including important documents, some coins and jewelry, and the deed, or ownership record, to my house. Finally, I can exchange my money into the currency of other countries, or I can buy traveller's checks before I depart on a trip.

Unit 6:Bicycle Shop

Unit 6:Bicycle Shop
http://www.dailyesl.com/bike-shop.htm

I've decided to start mountain biking to get in shape and enjoy the scenery around my area, so I took my bike into a cycling shop to get a tune up. My bike was in pretty bad shape, so I wasn't sure if it would serve my needs. However, the man at the shop adjusted my breaks, oiled the chain, fixed my flat tire, and adjusted the spokes in my wheels. He suggested that if I do a lot of heavy riding, I should get self-sealing bike tubes that don't puncture as easily over rough terrain. I'm thinking about getting a lighter bike, but my current bike will have to do for now. I also bought a new bike helmet to protect my head in case I fall off the bike or fly over the handle bars on my rides. Finally, I bought a water hydration backpack so I can drink water and still have my hands free to ride.

IMBA History
Mission statement: IMBA creates, enhances and protects great trail experiences for mountain bikers worldwide.
The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) was founded in 1988 by a group of California mountain bike clubs concerned about the closure of trails to cyclists. These pioneering clubs believed that mountain biker-education programs and innovative trail management solutions should be developed and promoted. While this first wave of threatened trail access was concentrated in California, IMBA's pioneers saw that crowded trails and trail-user conflict were fast becoming worldwide recreation issues. This is why they chose "International Mountain Bicycling Association" as the organization's name.

IMBA's mission has always been to protect, create, and enhance quality trail experiences for mountain bikers worldwide. In addition, we actively promote responsible mountain biking, support volunteer trailwork, assist land managers with trail management issues, and improve relations among trail user groups.

IMBA has members in all 50 United States and 40 other countries. IMBA members annually contribute more than one million hours to trailwork projects on public land. To date, these volunteers have created more than 5,000 (8,000 km) miles of new trails worldwide.

IMBA continues to bring out the best in mountain biking through education, trail construction, volunteer support, management advice, cash and grants for trail improvement, and worldwide leadership. IMBA gives mountain bikers a national and international voice that is heard and respected by federal land managers, environmental groups, the mainstream media, and other trail users. IMBA works closely with the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and Parks Canada and the U.K. Forestry Commission. We also partner with a variety of state, local, and international agencies

IMBA's key projects and endeavors include the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew, the National Mountain Bike Patrol, IMBA Trailbuilding Schools, IMBA Epic Rides, IMBA Trail Solutions, and a wide range of educational efforts. IMBA works to keep trails open and in good condition for everyone.

Mountain Biking 歌词

There's pedal bikes and motor bikes
And now they're riding mountain bikes
Up and down and out of town
Over, under, through, around
I ride my little bicycle, I ride it to the top
No red lights or traffic signs to tell me when to stop
There's racing bikes and motor bikes
And now they're riding mountain bikes
Up and down and out of town
Over, under, through, around

Unit 6:Textbooks and School Supplies

Unit 6:Textbooks and School Supplies
http://www.dailyesl.com/bookstore.htm

The new school semester just started, and I need some supplies for my classes. First, I have to buy six textbooks, but they are so expensive, so I might buy the textbooks online if they are available. I also need to pick up a good dictionary and thesaurus to help me improve my writing in my English classes. I also have to read three novels. For my math and physics classes, I need a calculator, and I have to buy several notebooks and 3-ring binders to organize my homework and assignments. I also will buy some color pens and a yellow highlighter to mark important points in my textbooks. However, if my textbooks are in good condition at the end of the semester, I might be able to return them for a partial refund.

thesaurus/ A book of synonyms, often including related and contrasting words and antonyms.
Binder is a notebook cover with rings or clamps for holding sheets of paper.

Reservations and Facilities
http://www.dailyesl.com/campground.htm

During the summer, I spend a lot of time camping in the mountains near my house. It's a great way to spend time with family. I usually reserve a campsite at a campground in the canyon, but you can try your luck without a campsite reservation and hope you can find a non-reservable site that is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. In most cases, we look for a campsite that has a lot of shade from the sun, is near a water source, has a good fire pit, and has a good spot to pitch a tent. Once we select a site, we unload our gear from the car, set up our tent, and start a fire to prepare dinner. Building a fire isn't difficult if you have the right tinder and wood to get it going. After dinner, we sometimes sit around the fire and tell stories or sing songs. Before we go to bed, we make sure to put out the fire and put away any food and garbage left out. Otherwise, animals including bear might stop and visit our campsite during the night.
