Time Limit Policy
There is a time limit for all students to complete the CGA program. Students are assigned a time limit when they apply to the program based on the number of exemptions granted upon admission. Any non-active years used do not count against the time limit to complete the program. Students enrolling in the first year with no exemptions must complete the program within 10 years of initial registration. A student’s time limit starts from their first full year of studies. Given this, students who first enrol in Session 2 or later, the start year will be considered the next year. Students entering the program with course exemptions will have their time on the CGA program prorated as follows:

New or re-admitted students who started the program in or after 19981999 and thereafter, will be granted an additional two years upon admission if they have the Bachelor’s Degree requirement outstanding.
Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia 21 Students who are in their last and second-to-last year will receive warning letters advising them that their allowable time limit is approaching. Students cannot exceed their given time limit. Those who reach the end of their allowable time without completing all program requirements (courses, practical experience and degree, if applicable) will be required to appeal for additional time or withdraw from the CGA program subject to the Readmission Policy of CGABC.
