周六，安省Hamilton父亲倒车，在自家车道压伤8岁女儿，左前轮和左后轮都压过女孩，有生命危险

Father backs family SUV over 8 year old daughter in Hamilton

ONTARIO - An eight-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being run over by her father backing out of the driveway at the family’s East Mountain home.

The girl, who police said was sitting looking in a purse, was struck around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the home on Thorley Drive, off Upper Gage Avenue just north of The Linc.

“She’s been run over by the vehicle,” said Collision Reconstruction Unit Detective Constable Bob Blankstein.

“As it reversed, both tires ran over her,” he said, noting it was the front and back left wheels that struck the child.

After being hit, there are reports from those in the area at the time that the girl was not breathing and was given CPR. How many people performed CPR is unclear, but the girl reportedly started breathing by the time ambulance workers arrived.

Neighbours say the family, who they identified as a mom, dad and three children, have lived in the home for several years.

The girl is often outside playing, they said.

“She (is a) happy kid,” said neighbour Sara Amore, 18, who watched the incident unfold.

“She had friends on the street, always out playing.”

Police taped off the home’s driveway as well as that of the neighbouring house yesterday afternoon.

Yellow police tape extended through part of the front yard and a dark-coloured SUV sat in front of the home, in the driveway and perched on the front lawn.

Bright yellow tarps were laid on the ground and two tarps were also stuck to the SUV.

A stroller and children’s bicycles were clearly visible in the home’s driveway.

The child was taken to McMaster University Medical Centre where she was rushed into emergency.

Police said the girl’s injuries are very serious and life-threatening.
