我40岁啦，在国内属于金领阶层，老公不会英语，我们9月27日登陆温哥华，庆幸来到了加拿大。下面是我写给同事的信。

My whole family arrived Vancouver on 27 Sept. successfully. Fortunately I speak English and I got foreign exposure in past years, anything I don't know, just ask, as a direct and simple person, I feel happy to be here. I am confident to get used to Vancouver soon, the public transportation is the same as Europe, easier for me. We will move to our rented apartment on 10 Oct. 1550 CAD/month for 900 square feets, now we are in hotel. Will enter foreigner's home when they sell their house on weekends, open house, I want to see how romantic is your fancy foreigner's home, ha, ha........... learn from you. In my previous 40 years, white and black, glass and mirror, transparent, now I also want my home to be nice, pretty and romantic, however, need input.
Canada is such a country that can accept variety and it's very gentle from my limited experience. Start from immigration, can feel peace and equal, neither exaggerated warm nor cold, equal only, this made us very comfortable. For food, China doesn't have so delicious meat and fruit, may be leadership has, but now, I am leadership, cool...........
My daughter is 16, no more follower, she has her own mind and feels unhappy, cried for going home, bought her a laptop, resume MSN and video with her friends in China comfort her a lot, hope the school can bring her more happiness after wards.
My hubby is quite ok even he doesn't speak English at all, he can always make himself happy, no matter where he is.
Immigration is much better than to be transferred by business, as we can enjoy life as whole family, I can have enough time to be with my daughter and hubby, and I am confident to build our bright future in new society. After the first immigration, we may apply for the second 5 or 10 years later, ha, ha..........I like changes.
Now, I have no home, no job, no car, no many things, but, I am happy. Now my hubby and daughter are out, the first time going out without me, will see what happen, ha, ha...........

其实我女儿也说温哥华是个活棺材，呵呵，还不如香港呢。不一样的看法嘛！
关于歧视，那是别人的问题，他可以歧视咱，咱也可以不往心里去呀，您说是吧？！嘻嘻也许我来的时间还短，可到此为止我庆幸能来到这里。
好久不见了太极，喔，你是北大还是清华来着，了不起！我其实一直在潜水，拿了签证后没啥好说的，但今天看到枫叶同学的帖子，就快赶上来说说我的感受，或者说快来找大家来分享一下我的快乐！！！！！！！呵呵。其实我本不敢太过直言我的快乐，因为怕刺激到最终因为各种原因来不成的同学。

由于自己语言较差，只能暂时依靠一下自己的亲戚！
歧视这个问题，你说得不错！为自己而生活，不断改变别人对自己的看法嘛！

这里有很多钱买不到的东西，空气的清新，人与人之间的信任，连华人也那么友善（不好意思这样讲，但海外华人的确让我感到素质高了），对物价的放心，没有压力，公平（上班努力（还没上过班听说的）下班享受）。最舒服也最容易被忽视的就是人与人之间的距离远了，不再拥挤，其实拥挤本身就让人烦，只不过我们挤惯了。走在一面河水一面绿色的林荫道上，和老公大声说笑，美！在当堂，遇到问题跟老外尽情问，舒坦，再也不用顾及什么丢不丢脸的issue, cool!

对了，对了，今天看到那么那么大的螃蟹，活的，只是掉了腿，2.99一磅，腿全的3.99一磅，天啊，比天津便宜多了，因为目前还住在家庭旅馆，不好意思弄得到处腥味，咽咽唾沫，走了。

呵呵，和我很多年前留学时的感觉有点像。不过说到歧视，想澄清一下的是，老外同事对中国还是有很好印象。特别是经济方面。出来10年了，感觉中国人的地位有了很大提高，因为都用中国货嘛，对中国的刻板印象已慢慢消失。但歧视主要是歧视外国人的语言能力。看了太多的中年移民手舞足蹈的讲英文，老外眉头紧锁的企图理解他们的意思。后面排长队在等待。表面没人抱怨，但心里不耐烦，讨厌，歧视的感觉都出来了。练好语言吧

当初也是怀着这样一份忐忑不安的心情去了加拿大做实地考察，坦白说，不怕吃苦，但是也不想受无谓的罪。听了网上说的，已经做了住地下室和老鼠为伴的糟糕准备，但是从下飞机的那一刻，就知道错了
就像你说的，没有钱、没有工作，但是空气是免费的，温暖是免费的，宽敞是免费的，特别是喜欢那里人们的笑脸，那种哪怕不认识都会说声你好，祝你好运（虽然是客套话，但是让我感到温暖）
在那里，你能定下心来看世界，不再拥挤，不再扰攘，不再紧迫，好像后面有猛虎那般没有安全感
更何况，那里的包容感让我有了实现任何愿望的勇气，你想读书?没有问题！有助学贷款，有PARTTIME，有FULLTIME，而且毕业后的Degree是一样的，没有任何区别；年龄也不是问题，好多硕士、博士毕业都是拖儿带女的参加毕业庆典；
你想工作？没有问题！满大街的临工，长工，可能待遇不高，但是基本生活没有问题！只要你想做，不管做什么，人工都特别值钱；
你想旅游？没有问题！旅游资源又丰富有便宜，特别是在温哥华
唯一的一点，你想炫福？那么请你收敛一点，谁也不想老被国税局敲门查账，所以尽量低调点
你的帖子唤起了我在那里的一段回忆，现在的我们只有耐心等待，期望着所有的努力和等待都没有白费！
祝你和家人在那里顺利平安！！
