The Network / System Administrator is responsible for implementing and managing the necessary technical support in the areas of effective Desktop Support, Network Administration and Information Management, Network Security, Telephony, and Office Security to aid the smooth and secure operation of Council and its Secretariat. It’s a permanent part time job opportunity, 3 days per week on-site and 2 days remote support (as required).
The Network / System Administrator provides advice to senior management concerning all hardware, software, telecommunications techniques, and standards to overall HCC organizational requirements and liaises closely with all business units and other senior management staff to acquire the technologies needed in their respective program areas at the best possible price.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support).
•Supports server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications.
•Performs technology needs analysis.
•Rolls out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
•Plans, implements, and supports the network and computing infrastructure plan.
•Coordinating the design, purchase, installation and maintenance of telephone products.
•Help staff while he is not on-site by phone, VPN, or remote access.
•Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.
Position Requirements
・ Graduate of a recognised University/College with a Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent.
・ Five years experience in an Information Technology Environment (including: email, desktop, server…)
・ Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and photocopiers.
・ Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors.
・ Thorough expertise and understanding of current and emerging hardware/software and telecommunications technologies, including the Internet and security firewall systems.
・ Excellent communication, interpersonal, oral and written.
・ Ability to work closely with staff to find solution to IT issues.
Skills
・ Demonstrated knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products.
・ Demonstrated knowledge of setting up remote access for users.
・ Demonstrated ability to administer a network including firewalls.
・ Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and photocopiers.
・ Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
・ Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors.
・ Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
・ Highly developed verbal and written communications.
