Primary Focus
As the successful candidate for this position, you will administer and process payroll for Canadian employees in accordance with legislation requirements, various union agreements, HR policies and to ensure that all employees and various regulatory bodies are paid accurately and on time. The term of this position will be for up to 18 months.
Responsibilities
Complete the payroll cycles in an accurate and timely fashion.
Maintain SOx compliance with payroll processes, internal and external audit controls.
Ensure that all earnings, deductions and benefits are balanced each pay period.
Ensure that all time entry is reviewed and corrected as necessary, and provide support.
Ensure that all applicable payments are paid accurately and on time and reported to accounting group.
Ensure that all new hires, terminations, pay increases, transfers, and adjustments are completed and paid accordingly.
Prepare on-line and manual calculations for any payroll exceptions that can occur on a daily basis.
Assist with payroll issues (troubleshooting), year-end administration and special projects as required.
Develop simple queries and run/distribute various reports.
Assist with testing as assigned.
Provide support to business units and clients as required.
Maintain process documentation, as well as review and look for improvements.
Qualifications
Minimum 4 to 6 years progressive experience with a financial and payroll system.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft time and labour a definite asset.
Must be flexible and able to work well under pressure of deadlines, changing priorities and last minute changes.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Working towards Payroll Certification.
High School and/or related diploma.
Oracle/PeopleSoft training an asset.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Equivalencies will be considered.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
