Paul Tong: "I am a Chinese Canadian, 81 yrs old. I love Canada and the people and system on top of anything ever since. Canadians have very good culture and the people very kindhearted. The governments always set up good benefits for all the general public to enjoy, fair and just. The construction of St John Hospice at UBC is a good deed. Go ahead, UBC's Board governors. Don't let the selfish people bring damage to our Canadian good nature. These selfish guys want such services one day."
Helen He: "We should respect each other and do more nice thing."
Cheng Yan: "I am Chinese myself. Shame on some Chinese home owners who are against the construction of the UBC hospice at its proposed location. Those people are selfish, uneducated and know nothing about Chinese culture."
Eddie Chow: "Eventually everybody have to die. Hospice provides such a nice service for those dying people and their families as a prolong culture ad tradition of Western countries such as Canada, we definitely need it, at anywhere which is appropriate, i.e. close to hospitals.
Shame on those "NIMBY" people."
Nancy Yang: "I am a Chinese but I support the project. Janet is not the representative of all the Chinese. I do not mind if the facility is my backyard."
Andy Li: "Support!"
Louis Yang: "I support the construction of UBC Hospice. Please don't use the so-called cultural difference to hid your own selfishness and forget your house value. Think more about the value as human being."
Daniel Suen: "It is a good idea for UBC residents. I support this project. We need it. We all will die one day in the future."
Rong Dong: "Build the hospice!
A simple choice for the cold-hearted condo owners.
Would you rather die in your own home and haunt your own family, or die in the hospice nearby?"
TonyWilderman: "I truly hope that UBC has the cojones to stand up to this blatant cultural blackmail The needs of our dyinng citizens are far, far more important than catering to the greed of a wealthy privileged few disguised as a 'cultural' aversion to death."
Michael Boulton: "Build the hospice please. Taking care of our sick and elderly is part of Canadian culture."
Liam White: "Janet Fang and the group of Asian residents complaining about the proposed hospice at UBC are committing blatant social discrimination based solely on superstition and their viewpoints should be dismissed.
In this country, people are not legally segregated based on race, age, or gender. Segregating them based on whether or not they are "dying" is just wrong."
