I cannot begin to describe the amount of things I have learned from Mr. Ramde. He is a great French teacher in so many ways. C.S. Lewis once said, "The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts.” Although I wouldn’t exactly compare myself to a barren desert, Mr. Ramde has irrigated my mind with new and more extensive knowledge of the French language. I’ve missed a few years of French in the Canadian curriculum, but in a matter of few months, Mr. Ramde was able to help me catch up with my current French material. There used to be a seed of doubt in my mind that I wouldn’t learn French well, however, in Mr. Ramde’s classes those doubts faded with time. In his classes, he supplies numerous amounts of work to make sure the student gains sufficient understanding, and he helps one develop oral skills by encouraging each individual to read aloud French text for the first time regardless of one’s incorrect pronunciation. By doing so, he helps eliminate the fear of speaking orally one might have when learning a language, and he proceeds to help the individual correct pronunciation mistakes when reading the text for a second time. I haven’t even scratched the surface of many of the things Mr. Ramde does for his students. In conclusion, if Mr. Ramde’s students were compared to clumsy baby birds, then he would be the mentor that guides us along the way, preparing us so that one day we can soar flawlessly in the open sky.
