如果两个独立回路是同相的话，永远也变不成240，两个同相回路之间电压是零。用作table saw的电源最好做个固定的240伏独立插座，简单的做法有安全隐患。

看来贴里的不管是否电工，说的都有点不太靠谱。用电最为重要的是安全，逼得我这个资深潜水员浮头换气呐喊了。

以下所述均依据《Canadian Electrical Code》，目前最新版本为2015，但楼主涉及的问题与版本无关，因为无论新旧版本就此内容均无调整。

一、关于楼主电机：
1. 3hp，single phase， 230v电机的满载电流是17A，对导线的要求=17A*125%=21.25A，14号线肯定不行。标准选法为10号铜线或8号铝线。
2. beaker选择30A。
楼主可以依此看看车库是否具备条件改造安装。

二、关于地毯买的东东能否使用
这要看该装置有否CSA认证标识，有则允许用。
不要说美国出售的产品在加拿大允许用，因为美国执行UL标准，加拿大执行CSA标准（比UL严格）。
注明一下：是否允许使用这是个法律问题，能否使用则是个技术问题，通俗地说就是出事后保险赔不赔的事儿。
