现在申请图书馆专业比较困难了.申请人很多.今年我作为美国一个图书馆奖学金的评委,收到的申请人中有的已经做了助理教授,因为某种原因想读图书馆的硕士学位,有的有常春藤大学MBA,建筑学硕士学位又转行读图书馆的.原因就是图书馆专业出来工作稳定.

那像我这样只有国内英语专业本科学历的去申请，恐怕就悲剧了

如果你在加拿大，可以申请政府贷款和补助。这个奖学金更多是荣誉性质。而且申请人必须是美国和加拿大公民。

我大学本科科技英语，GPA可能3.2~3.3。
硕士是在澳洲读的一年制COURSE的物流管理。
工作经验分别是航空地勤，第三方物流客服与系统，市场（偏数据分析）
雅思分数A类听7读7写6说6，G类听7读9写6说6

今年年初移民温哥华，目前在一家小公司做文员。

我一直对图书馆的氛围和工作很有兴趣。所以想尝试Library and Archive Technicians and Assistants的工作来入门。也去查了些COLLEGE的资料，如两年全日制的Library & Information Technology。

化了整晚看了楼主的帖子后，对这个行业了解了很多，但也有了新的疑惑。所以想请教下，
我这种情况，学MLIS或COLLEGE的DIPLOMA OF LIBRARY & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY哪个比较好呢？时间上都是两年。入学要求和收费应该有很大差别吧。

另外，如果要申请MLIS，是不是还要回原来的学校把10几年前的成绩单再弄出来……

MLIS - 读出来是做Librarian,manager,director....professional
DIPLOMA - 是做library assistant,paraprofessional.做librarian一定要MLIS.工作好找与否取决于你的经验和能力

图书馆这个东西本来就是一个低收入的工作，比较适合女人做，稳定，压力不大，但是说的好像比faculty还好就搞笑了，mlis进大学图书馆很多就是3，4万的薪水，还什么5年拿到副教授的工资，副教授也分多了，文科的副教授也有6，7万的，而且人家是9个月工资。男人做这个基本上就是苟活而已。

看你做啥了.另外看你在哪里了.UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN一般兼VICE PROVOST (10-20万以上,看学校了)..年薪就是比文科教授高几倍.图书馆很多人(高级职位者,有些有两个博士学位)比教授高(有些本人就是教授),你也没办法.耶鲁的馆长现在回牛津做学院院长了.

当然是低收入阶层.但现在图书馆高科技含量很高.很多程序员也在这里工作.而且贵LIBRARIAN领导.总不至于领导他们的人薪水比他们低?所以薪水差别很大.行行出状元.看你怎么做?

Description​

: Reporting to the Director, Brian Dickson Law Library, and working closely
with other law librarians and reference technicians, the law librarian provides bilingual
reference and research services of legal sources to our clients and participates in the
teaching of legal research, in French and English. The successful candidate also
participates in collection development activities, including the development of electronic
subject guides.
The main objective of this position is the contribution to the optimal development,
organization, access and use of the law library resources in support of the teaching and
research mission of the University of Ottawa.​

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:​

1. A Master’s degree in Information Studies (M.I.S.) from an American Library
Association accredited institution;
2. Two (2) years of professional experience, or fewer, depending on relevance of
experience to the position;

5. Experience in legal reference services;

俺大学就是学图书馆专业的！根本就分配不出去，哪个单位的图书馆、图书室都是安排、照顾家属的地方，压根不需要专业人员！

中国的图书馆只是相当于美国图书馆的借阅室.美国和加拿大对图书馆LIBRARIAN的要求和中国不同.本科必须有专业(SUBJECT非图书馆的).你这样的学位在美国和加拿大不能做LIBRARIAN.必须有专业然后读MLIS方可.
