yes, we know the boiler inspector is better than power engineer, but his english is not good enogh to get one. actually, he applied one but failed. so he wants to get into the field first, which the power engineer would be the ideal one. Are you sure anyone with any engineer degree can chanllenge the exam, not only mechanical engineer? Are you in alberta? can we talk?

To challenge the fourth class exam in Alberta, you must have an engineering degree and some boiler operation working experience. With ten years boiler inspection experience, your husband should know how to operate a boiler. Show this operation experience in his resume when he apply to write the exam.

If his English is a real problem, he might want to be back to school to take power engineer program. It is two years program and he will get fourth class ticket by the end of the first year and third class ticket by the end of the second year. I got my third class by this way. It is slow but a big help for my career.

你说的是管道的无损探伤： Inspector吧

In Alberta or maybe in Canada, you need National Board Commission to be a jurisdication inspector or API 510 to be a third party inspector. You need CGSB certificate to perform NDE job in Canada.
If you have good work experience and communication skill, you can get a inspector job without NB or API cert and your employer will provide nessacery training to help you to get your qualification.
To be a NDE personnel, you will be normally required to get CGSB Level II first. NDE company barely hire person without qualification because they want you make money for them right away.
I think both inspecor and NDE job are very good career.

看来朋友是在做此职业吧。谈谈AB那边的情况吧，原本拿了电工牌就计划去AB淘金呢，但做回PE之后反倒犹豫了，听几个在AB北部油矿做operator的讲情况并不很好，真正拿到手的并不很多。能详细谈谈吗？这也正是发此贴的一个目的啊。

保安第一就是挣得不多；
第二是和人打交道的多，尤其是和坏人打交道的时候多；
第三是看到的社会阴暗面多，有时会影响心情，甚至怀疑自己移民到此就是来看这些吗？
第四是基本是倒班工作；
第五是有时是室外工作，会冻得要死。

收入前面咱们讨论过了，不再多说了。
就说和人打交道吧，有时你服务的客户会居高临下，你要没有良好的心理承受能力最好别入此行。记得有一次被一个不是我们管辖的写字楼客户当众叫喊，要是在国内早就一拳打他个满脸花了。可现在你得忍住，毕竟你是打工的得慢慢向他解释清楚。记得当时那家伙明白后不停道歉，还好奇的问你的忍耐力和修养怎么那么好？
你知道我怎么讲，我说我是拿时薪的，你吵嚷，我解释，你道歉，我再解释这一切都必须发生在我上班时间，否则概不奉陪！因为耽误一分钟我就挣1毛7分钱，你这个事件让我挣了10几元钱，还应感激你呢。哈哈，打工生活要没点儿阿Q精神还不得气死啊。

I am working in calgary now. But I know that if you work in Fort Mc, your employer will give your $4000/month tax free living allowance for first two years. Plusing your regular salary, money is definitely good over there although it is very cold in winter.

boiler inspector在BC要二级或一级牌，最直接的就是去问sa。
