It seems that many banks (1) are making the same mistake. When we request a certified cheque, the bank give us a bank draft while telling us that they are exactly the same. After few days waiting we come to know that, regarding legal procedures, a bank draft may not be as valid as a certified cheque.
I really did not know this until talking on an online forum where someone told me that a bank draft may not acceptable as a payment for the fees to sponsor my parents immigration.
I really hope you will not return our application as we really believed that our banks were giving us a certified cheque.

(1) It happened to Royal Bank, TD and HSBC customers sponsoring their parents immigration.

This letter has a small problem. My bank didn't tell me anything about draft or certified check. When I requested a certified check, they simply gave a draft without any explanation. I found out 2 weeks later when other people who sent in the applications same time as mine and their money was held. So I phoned the bank to find out the status of my check, they couldn't find it in certified check pool instead of draft pool. I told them that I requested a certified check at first time, they said they made a mistake, I ask them to give me a letter to explain their mistake. but you know they are very slow, who knows how this can help.
If you already knew that was a draft in first hand, it's hard to blame anyone. Don't you think so?

Take it easy folks. Good luck for your attempts. CIC will hear you and I don't believe the applications will get rejected because of the draft issue

On the other hand, CIC should really ELIMINATE those who have NOT included 3 years of qualified NOA's. Those folks were not playing by the rules and should get kicked out at a later date

同意楼上，同认为cic不会仅仅是因为draft/money order而退回申请。

You are right. I will correct it. It is a good thing to ask the banks to give us a explanation. I will do the same thing and mail to CIC

I (as well as many other applicants) call back my/our bank/s and they told me/us that both are exactly the same.
I really hope you will not return my application as I really believed that my bank was issuing me what CIC requests.

请教一下，朋友太太是sponser，他是co-signer，之所以这样是因为他太太在加拿大一直有固定收入，朋友总是在两边来回跑。现在给朋友父母申请，提供的是朋友的出生公证。按checklist上说应该是提供sponser的出生公证来证明和主申请人的关系，可是在他们的case里sponser的出生公证不能证明和主申请人的任何关系，所以他们就没有提供sponser的出生公证。不知道这种情况是不是要被退回来啊？

那个太太根本不能作为主要SPONSOR来SPONSE她先生的父母。SPONSOR必须是这对父母的亲人（他们儿子），CO-SIGNER只能是太太。

另一个论坛看到 有人2010年收入没达标 钱被扣了。所以这一轮主要看的还是材料的完整性。
