This was during a public open house to discuss the temporary modular housing for the homeless that is coming to Richmond. Witnesses mentioned (in the Richmond news) that they suspect this man was opposed to the homeless housing in the area. There were escalating tensions between proponents and opposition at the time according to reports I've read and seen online. No excuse for this criminal act though and he should be arrested. Disgusting behaviour.

This made me sick to my stomach. I'm not sure if you're aware Mike but Richmond has a surplus of abandoned condos from people from mainland China. When I drive around the city you can see majority of the lights are turned off which kind of feels like a ghost town. I think this is why the city of Richmond had a meeting about temporary housing for the homeless and a possible Q&A with the community.

Great analysis. This situation does relate to the housing crisis, and it's concerning how this guy feels threatened by a policy that is meant to give to the local people in need. This made me sick to my stomach. I'm not sure if you're aware Mike but Richmond has a surplus of abandoned condos from people from mainland China. When I drive around the city you can see majority of the lights are turned off which kind of feels like a ghost town. I think this is why the city of Richmond had a meeting about temporary housing for the homeless and a possible Q&A with the community.

Great analysis. This situation does relate to the housing crisis, and it's concerning how this guy feels threatened by a policy that is meant to give to the local people in need. This is what goverments should do, protect their citizens. And I'm sorry but if you relocated to a new country and didn't even bother to learn the local language, it is your problem. If there are communication issues, it is on you because you didn't want to fit in.

Communism creates souless humans. They place money over dignity. I drive a beat up Honda Civic. It has 3 dents, 265,000 kms, stinks like dog....because yeah i have a dog. 1) It is an isolated shameful incident - DO NOT criticize a whole ethnic. Police have confirmed that the incident was not related to the meeting.
“This was an isolated incident that was not racially or ethnically motivated,” said RCMP Cpl. Dennis Hwang.
“We remind people to exercise a critical lens in what they see, hear, or read before any judgments are made. If anyone has witnessed or filmed an incident that may require our involvement, please contact the police first.”

Stan Lomas, a witness to the incident, was at the library when he heard a commotion.
He said it sounded like someone flipped a table or chair, and there was shouting, but he couldn’t make out what was being said.
Lomas said there were three security guards at the scene, but that they “did nothing, I was quite surprised about that.”
“Somebody should have gone after him,” he said.
