SUMMARY OF TASKS:
We are currently hiring for General Reliefemployees at our Burnaby facility. General Relief is a group of entry level laborerswho may be called on to work in various roles within the operation, from the warehouse to production floor. General Relief employees typically work on a casual, on-call basisto fill-in for vacations and other absences while gaining hours towards seniority. When seniority is achieved, employees from the General Relief group are eligible to move into full-time positions if qualified and when they become available.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food receiving, production sanitation and/ or cold storage warehouse duties
Direct handling of products * Manual lifting, stacking, loading and unloading
Operating power equipment including a forklift for short distances
Working with, and in close proximity to sanitizing chemicals (i.e. high concentrations of acids and alkalis)
Ensuring strict adherence to food safety policies (HACCP, CFIA, GMP, BRC)
Strict compliance to workplace health and safety policies (WHMIS, OH&S, WCB, and Company procedures)
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in manufacturing and production, warehouse, sanitization and/ or as a general labour is preferred
A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent attendance and work record
Physical capacity to perform medium to heavy lifting (up to approx. 50 pounds)
Ability to learn and perform duties on all equipment (power and hand)
Previous experience in the food industry is preferred
Valid BC driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset
Job Type: Part-time
