City of Toronto clinics scale up Moderna doses as provincial Pfizer shipment delayed
News Release
June 19, 2021
On Saturday, June 19, the province informed Toronto Public Health that the anticipated weekly Pfizer shipment of more than 162,000 doses destined for Team Toronto immunization clinics will be delayed. The shipment was to arrive in freezers on Monday, June 21. Clinic operations and appointment bookings run on timely delivery of vaccine supply. To ensure that every booked appointment is honoured at City-run immunization clinics over the coming weeks, Toronto Public Health is increasing the administration of the Moderna mRNA vaccine as it is interchangeable with Pfizer. Our vaccination partners around the city are making similar adjustments.
Both Pfizer and Moderna brands are mRNA vaccines and are extremely effective against COVID-19 transmission. Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) has found “no important difference” between Moderna and Pfizer and considers these mRNA vaccines interchangeable. The Pfizer mRNA vaccine is the only vaccine currently approved for use in Canada for anyone under the age of 18. At this time, youth receiving their first dose of vaccine will only receive the Pfizer mRNA vaccine. Anyone over 18 years can safely receive the Moderna mRNA for their first dose or second dose.
Beginning Sunday, June 20, individuals 18 years or older who have an appointment booked at one of the city-run immunization clinics will receive a Moderna mRNA vaccine. Clinic staff will ensure clients are aware of which vaccine brand they will be receiving, however, there will be no opportunity for clients to request or switch to a particular vaccine brand. The limited Pfizer mRNA vaccine supply will be reserved and administered to youth 12 to 17 years old.
Team Toronto vaccination partners remain committed to get as many individuals fully vaccinated with two doses as quickly as possible. As the Delta variant continues to spread across Toronto and the GTA, all Torontonians are encouraged to book their first or second dose vaccine appointment as they are eligible.

其实我对疫苗的长期副作用还是存疑的，毕竟是一个短期出来的东西，
打疫苗的长期副作用风险与染上新冠概率以及康复率的风险，那一个更大，其实不好说
不过我还是做了一个打疫苗的选择，
关于混搭，我看了一下美国和加拿大的指导方针，意思是尽量不要混搭，除非没货，也可以打
鉴于辉瑞发货延迟，而近期的一批主要是摩德纳，所以我不准备着急的预定第二针，
美国CDC的指导方针
The safety and efficacy of a mixed-product series have not been evaluated. Both doses of the series should be completed with the same product.
Using the above strategies, every effort should be made to determine which vaccine product was received as the first dose to ensure completion of the vaccine series with the same product. In exceptional situations in which the mRNA vaccine product given for the first dose cannot be determined or is no longer available, any available mRNA COVID-19 vaccine may be administered at a minimum interval of 28 days between doses to complete the mRNA COVID-19 vaccination series.
加拿大指导方针
Persons who received a first dose of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) should be offered the same mRNA vaccine for their second dose. If the same mRNA vaccine is not readily available or unknown, another mRNA vaccine can be considered interchangeable and should be offered to complete the vaccine series.

于是就先用Moderna，因为Moderna现在很多，这个推迟会持续多久，不太清楚
