Main Purpose & Function :

This position involves routine tire repair work in the Equipment Services Garage, and in the field.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities :

The incumbent will be responsible for stripping, repairing, assembling, and replacing a variety of vehicle tires, wheels,
and rims. Supervision will be provided by the Tire Worker II regarding fleet priortities; changed standards, tire types, or
repair methods necessitated by City policy or contract changes.

You will also manage the Tire Shop in an acting capacity, and work without supervision when the Tire Worker II is
unavailable. The incumbent will deal with customer service requests and complaints on a timely basis. Other duties
include communicating with the Garage Control Centre to create and maintain work order requests. Aid in the control
of the Tire Shop mounted and repaired stock inventories, servicing tires with calcium chloride solution and related
work as required. Responsible for following safety procedures and identifying and correcting safety hazards as
necessary. Other duties related to the work of the Branch as required.

Qualifications :

Completion of grade ten; supplemented by several years of experience and courses related to the automotive industry
or heavy-duty trucks and equipment tire industry, tire inventory management, or an equivalent combination of
education, training, and experience.

Considerable knowledge of current tire repairs methods, materials, and tools. Must exercise considerable judgement
and skill when dealing with all aspects of the tire repair process. Proven ability to disassemble and reassemble tires
and rims safely and efficiently. Skill in the use and care of tools essential for tire repair and servicing. Skill in the
operation of various vehicles. Proven ability to repair and service a variety of tires for vehicles and equipment,
maintain reoutine notes on work orders and other clerical records. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
with superior verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with co-workers and customers, including interpreting and/or determining their service needs and following up to ensure that their needs are met; must be able to satisfactorily deal with customer service requests and complaints in a timely manner.

Demonstrate flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment with competing schedules and deadlines.
A current and valid BC drivers license is a requirement of this position. Transporation arrangements must meet
operational requirements of the Department. Must hold a valid Forklift Operator certificate or have the ability to obtain it.

of 4,000 units ranging from small equipment, automoblies, light and heavy duty trucks, and heavy equipment. The
fleet is serviced in one of four main city facilities - three located in Vancouver and one at the Vancouver Landfill in
Delta.

Main Purpose & Function:
This position is responsible for providing design expertise in the acquisition, modification and outfitting of all city
vehicle and equipment purchases as well to major changes of existing equipment and rolling stock. Duties will also
include failure analysis and the design of repairs.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful incumbent will provide mechanical engineering expertise and guidance to City departments when replacing vehicles and equipment. Work with the various City departments to determine equipment requirements based on operational and process needs. Determine specifications and order new vehicles and equipment. Provide detailed design for outfitting new equipment. Provide mechanical design and failure expertise and guidance to the City. Perform safe design modifications to existing City fleet. Analyze annual maintenance costs to determine optimum financial lifecycles for City equipment. Provide expert financial guidance to departments and branches regarding economic impacts of equipment alternatives, and overall fleet costs. Analyze fleet emission profiles and determine appropriate actions to implement emission reduction strategies. Analyze fleet utilization throughout the City and provide appropriate guidance and recommendations to Council, departments, and branches regarding vehicle and equipment usage. Review vehicle needs of the City, and provide recommendations for appropriate vehicle selections.

Qualifications:
A university degree in Mechanical Engineering and eligibility for registratrion as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training in B.C. Ability to deal effectively with mulitple tasks, prioritizing, setting and meeting competing
deadlines. Excellent report writing, verbal communication and inter-personal skills. Strong leadership and conflict
resolution skills in creating and working in a team environment. Well developed computer skills. Engineering design, technical and practical experience relative to the truck/fleet and or the equipment industry would be an asset. A genuine interest in working with vehicles and equipment and a valid B.C. Driver's License and satisfactory driver's record is required. An Engineer-In-Training with related experience may be considered.

Warehouse Worker (On Call)

Financial Services is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals available for on-call work as Warehouse Worker for multiple civic locations.

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to materials handling including; sorting, storing,
moving, counting inventory; receiving, selecting, measuring and issuing materials to customers at the counter; packing
and labeling goods; and warehouse maintenance functions. Some positions may require making offsite deliveries and
incidental purchases and the operation of one ton flat decks and cube vans. Record keeping, reporting, verifying the
accuracy of data, performing data entry tasks with a warehouse management system are preferred skills. Responsible for following safety procedures and identifying and correcting safety hazards as necessary. Performs other related duties as required. Availability to work between the hours between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm Monday to Friday with the possibility of partial shifts on weekends. Advance notice can be provided for some assignments but other locations may occur with less than 24 hours notice. On-call Stores Worker may be relocated between different civic locations during the week.

Requirements
Education:

Completion of Grade 12 and considerable related warehouse work, supplemented by inventory management and
computer training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Key Abilities & Experience:
Working knowledge of warehouse methods, procedures and regulations.
Some skill in the use of inventory management equipment and systems would be beneficial.
Basic working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Good keyboarding skills.
Accurate numerical ability and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, maintain attention, juggle multiple priorities, and to work with and meet competing
deadlines.
Ability to maintain tools, equipment and the work area in a clean and orderly manner.
Ability to lift and push heavy objects sufficient to meet the demands of the job: lifting, bending, reaching, pulling, and
carrying, including moving heavy items (40kg range).
Ability to work comfortably on a ladder or at a height of 24' above the floor (on an order picker).
Ability to work in inclement weather.
Must possess good interpersonal and customer service skills, and be able to develop and maintain effective and
positive working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
Knowledge and experience of branch operations and products would be an asset.
Preferred possession or the ability to obtain order picker and forklift certification.
Ability to operate one ton vehicles.
Good geographical knowledge of Vancouver.
A valid BC driver's license is required.
